Demonstrations

  Group: Contributions

Demonstrations
With the aim of allowing Symposium attendees to try out the latest and greatest of your Robot-Human interaction research, the Ro-Man 2010 Symposium strongly encourages demonstrations of novel Human-Robot interaction devices, software or experiments. Authors of accepted papers are particularly welcome to apply for demonstration space to support their presentation. Demonstrations must be free of commercial content. Demonstrations will be assigned to a specific Demo session within the conference program and will be on display throughout the full Symposium duration. To create an engaging atmosphere, Demo presenters are encouraged to run their demonstrations also during coffee-breaks.

Demo facility information
The Demo session will take place in a dedicated room (the coffee-break room) of the Principe di Piemonte Congress Center. Depending on your request and available space, each Demo will be assigned one or two booths. Each booth will include a 120 cm by 50 cm table, two chairs, one electrical outlet, and space to hang a poster. Demo posters should fit within a 122 cm by 122 cm space and should indicate the Demo title, authors, and affiliations. Demo presenters are responsible for preparing, transporting, and setting up their own demonstration. For shipment assistance of special demonstration equipment, Demo presenters should contact Rocco Vertechy (Demo Chair, r.vertechy@sssup.it) ahead of time.

Demo Installation and Dismantlement
Demonstrations should all be set-up before the Symposium begins. The Demo room will be open for set-up on Sunday, September 12, in the afternoon and also on Monday, September 13, early in the morning (exact timing will be communicated later on). Student volunteers will be on hand during both of these time slots to help Demo presenters find their assigned locations. The Demo room will be locked when the conference is not in session, but the hotel cannot guarantee the security of the equipment located inside. Thus, Demo presenters may wish to avoid leaving valuable items unattended in the Demo room.
Presenters should plan to start packing-up their Demo equipment no later than Wednesday, September 15, in the afternoon (when the conference concludes). All equipment will have to be removed from the Demo room by 7 p.m. of Wednesday, September 15. Student volunteers will be on hand during this time to help presenters as needed. Any posters left after this time will be discarded by the hotel.

Demo submission instructions:
Those interested in presenting a Demo, please download and fill in the Demo form, re-name it (use your name and surname as the name of the return file), and return it directly to Rocco Vertechy (Demo Chair, r.vertechy@sssup.it) no later than August 1, 2010. The Demo form requires a title, list of authors, image, 150-word abstract and logistical details. Submissions will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee to ensure they are of interest to Symposium attendees and free from commercial content. Demo acceptance will be communicated no later than August 8, 2010.
